**All classes are tentative, pending state approval and student enrollment. Clinicals may听not be held in Barton county. Class schedule changes or updates may occur at the discretion听of the instructor.听
An active CNA certificate is a required pre-requisite for the Barton Nursing Program. Complete a Change of Major Form.
Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.听The sizes of classes are limited. CNA clinical groups max out at 10, CMA clinical groups max out at 6.听Courses are听scheduled听upon student interest and instructor availability.听Please check back frequently for updated class schedules.

The CNA course is a minimum of 90 contact hour course that prepares students for the state certification听exam. It is approved and regulated by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services听(KDADS). CNAs provide direct care to patients听of hospitals and residents of听assisted living听centers and long term care facilities.听 Students can be 15 years old to attend CNA classes but must be 16 years old to test for the CNA state exam.
After successful completion of this coursework (which is 45 hours minimum of verbal/book instruction, 20 hours minimum of in-person lab time and 25 hours minimum of in-person clinical time at a long term care facility) students will be eligible to sit for the following industry certification:听 Kansas CNA Examination.

Certified Nurse Aide Refresher
The CNA Refresher course is a 15 contact hour course that is approved by KDADS to reactivate a Kansas CNA certificate that has expired. The course consists听of a brief review of the KDADS CNA curriculum guidelines as well as student demonstration, in the听lab Environment听of the 18 skills from the Kansas Nurse Aide Task Checklist.
听
The CMA course is a minimum of 75 contact hour course that prepares students for the state certification exam. CMAs administer medications to residents in assisted living centers, prisons, and long term care facilities. An active Kansas听Certified Nurse Aide certification and a reading placement test are requirements for CMA training. Students听must be 18 years old to attend the CMA course.
After successful completion of this coursework (which includes in-person lab time and at least 25 hours of in-person clinical time at a long term care facility) students will be eligible to sit for the following industry certification:听 Kansas CMA Examination.
Certified Medication Aide Update
The CMA Update course is a 15 contact hour course that is approved by KDADS to meet the requirement for Kansas CMA continuing education that must be completed every two years. This course is designed to provide the student with a review of basic knowledge and introduction of new medications and their safe administration.

Testing for CNA is the first听Thursday of every month at 2 p.m.听If you have already been in contact with KDADS, please and push submit.
Please call the business office at (620) 786-7463 to pay the $25 proctoring fee and you will be placed on the next monthly testing date.
One week prior to the testing date, you should receive an email with a ticket for the test. If you do not receive this, please contact the Adult Healthcare department at (620) 792-9266.
